DIY Shabby Chic Easter Eggs

DIY Shabby Chic Easter Eggs

I used to love decorating real Easter Eggs as a little girl. We would dip eggs in dye, add stickers…you know, the whole nine yards. But, I think I’m past the age of dipping eggs in dye and adding stickers to them. Plus, you can’t let real Easter Eggs set out in a basket in your living room! Earlier this month I was in Hobby Lobby and saw some paper mache eggs and thought to myself, “We could use some shabby chic Easter Eggs in the Purple Palace!” This weekend I completed my Shabby Chic Easter Egg vision, while revisiting one of my favorite childhood Easter memories. Bikini Bites: Healthy Comfort Food

I’m afraid Mother Nature is playing a mean trick on us. Even though the season has officially changed to Spring, it still feels like Winter. Yuck.
Luckily, in today’s segment of Bikini Bites, Danielle has whipped up a healthy version of some comfort food to help you get through these last few days of cold weather.

My Spring To-Do List

Spring To-Do List

Each season I always seem to have a list full of things that I need to do, or want to do. Don’t we all? Here are some of the things I plan on accomplishing this Spring. Some are much more glamorous than others, but unfortunately I have to do practical things every now and then too 🙂

Fabulous Finds: Spring Clothes

New Spring Clothes

My sister and I did something super fun this weekend…we switched our Fall/Winter closet over to Spring/Summer! Now, I know this probably doesn’t sound fun at all, but we actually enjoy it.

If you haven’t figured it out by now I like color. Bold, pastel, patterns…the more color the better! As much as I love my dark winter clothing and sweaters I’m sooo over wearing them! I need some more color in my life pronto…enter Spring/Summer clothes!

DIY Spring Wreath (Guest Post for House by Hoff)

I know it’s hard to believe, but we finally made it to Spring…yay! Now, it’s time for things to liven up a bit. I thought I’d do my part to help speed up the process by making a new spring wreath for my front door. Today, I’m sharing my how-to instructions for this project over on my friend April’s blog, House by Hoff.

My IU Basketball Favorites

I enjoy sports, it must be the former cheerleader in me. But, the only sport I have ever followed is Indiana University Men’s Basketball. I have been brainwashed by my dad about this team for as long as I can remember. However, when you live in Indiana that is to be expected. Basketball is tradition. As much as I love girly girl things I have been SO excited about sharing my love of IU basketball with you!  Let’s try and forget the fact that they didn’t make it to the big dance this year. That is a sore subject for IU fans. In the spirit of March Madness I thought it would be fun to reminisce about some of my IU basketball memories and favorites. If basketball isn’t your thing don’t worry…I’ll be back to crafts on Friday 🙂

Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

I don’t know about you, but I sure love a good holiday. Especially a holiday that involves some sort of theme around dressing up, food and colored beverages. This past weekend I went out to experience some of our local St. Patrick’s Day festivities. They did not disappoint. Some people go all out, which really makes people watching super fun! I also enjoy spreading a little Irish cheer….maybe that is because I have an Irish name!? Erin Go Bragh everyone 🙂 Anyways, here are some of the fun things I experienced this weekend.

St. Patrick's Day

The fire fighters turn the river green each St. Patrick’s Day. They have been doing this for 14 years I guess…who knew!?

Bikini Bites: St. Patrick’s Day Recipes

Bikini Bites St. Patrick's Day Meal

I have to admit…I am not the best cook. I don’t mind cooking, but it takes too long and I have a hard time following directions for some reason.  I once attempted to make French Toast and instead of putting a ½ teaspoon (or whatever small amount of salt it called for) I used a cup. Whoops! I’m sure we’ve all done this at some point, right!? I guess you could say I’m still learning.

Luckily, one of my besties, Danielle, is a great cook! And she likes to keep things healthy and simple when she does it. Since I tend to struggle, and she doesn’t we decided to do a collaboration of recipes for my blog. Her recipe segments will be called Bikini Bites. This name couldn’t be more perfect because these are healthy recipes that will always keep you bikini ready! And she may or may not have a slight obsession with bikinis too 🙂

Since St. Patrick’s Day is on Monday Danielle whipped up some fun recipes you could make for a party, or just have to celebrate the holiday yourself! Continue reading

DIY Shabby Chic Birds (Full Guest-Post)

Here is my full DIY Shabby Chic Bird post (originally a guest-post over at House by Hoff).

I think it is safe to say that everyone is ready for spring this year. I personally love the sunny skies, warmer temperatures and pastel colors that the season brings. I also have started to become a fan of decorating with birds. They are so shabby and chic! And spring is all about the birds.

DIY Shabby Chic Birds

I found these wooden bird cut-outs at Michael’s, and immediately started to visualize the springy vibe they would bring to my home. I was sold! Then I found some fabric at Jo-Ann Fabrics that coordinated with my home decor, and felt like spring. Scrapbook paper would work just as well for the birds if you choose. Continue reading
